Virginia Yep began studying guitar at the age of eight at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Lima, Peru, where she won several awards. After completing her final exams as a concert guitarist, she moved to Madrid. She participated in master classes in Granada, Santiago de Compostela, Ville de Castres, Bilbao, Vigo, and Prague on a scholarship. Concert performances have taken her to Peru, South and Central America, Europe, Morocco, Turkey, and China. She currently lives in Berlin, where she completed her doctorate in comparative musicology at the Free University of Berlin. In addition to her concert activities, she composes and conducts research with a focus on the music of the Peruvian coast.
