Olaf Ruhl, born in 1964, comes from the Rhineland and was raised as a Christian, but with the awareness that he had a Jewish great-grandmother. While studying theology in 1984, he “stumbled” upon Yiddish songs, and they have captivated him ever since.
Since 2007, he has been performing his program “Singt ojf Yiddish! - Yiddish Songs & Stories,” in which he offers his audience a cheerful musical introduction to Yiddish music, language, and culture with numerous songs, poems, and anecdotes, accompanied by accordion and guitar.
