There are women who embody within themselves the spirit and essence of an entire era. This is certainly true of PATTI SMITH— singer, poet, writer, painter, photographer, and activist. With their program “This is the Girl,” EYMA and PERRINE MANSUY go beyond a traditional tribute and delve deeply into the life and poetic work of Patti Smith. With ethereal, imaginative, and delicate piano playing—ranging from minimalist simplicity to playful pop elements—an intense stage presence, and a rich, resonant voice—at times crystal-clear and enchanting, at others hoarse and heart-wrenching—EYMA and PERRINE explore the common ground between their worlds and that of the artist. The program ranges from Patti’s songs, poems set to music, and stories from her life to original compositions by the two musicians.
