A GARDEN BREEZE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY: THE IBZ BERLIN AND ITS NEIGHBOURHOOD

What makes the IBZ so special in addition to its architecture is its location. Our guests are able to enjoy a central and peaceful place to live with two parks, cafes and shops as well as the university nearby. The Schloßstrasse and the City West can be reached easily on foot or by bike. The IBZ offers its guests safety and a quality of living that is often difficult to find in big capitals around the world.

 

The IBZ Berlin is located in the center of the “Rheinisches Viertel”, often also called “Rheingauviertel”. The quarter, one of the noblest in Berlin since its creation between 1911 and 1915, is characterized by quiet streets, elegantly laid out and spacious squares and timelessly modern buildings that are reminiscent of reform housing, English country houses and sometimes expressionism and remembers the new objectivity.

 CYCLING TO UNIVERSITY

The “Rheinisches Viertel” is well connected to public transport: The Rüdesheimer Platz is located right outside the door. From there our guests can reach the campus of the Freie Universtät in Dahlem (stations “Thielplatz” or “Dahlem-Dorf”) in about 5 minutes by subway. It also takes no longer than this by bike. The path leads along quiet roads and along the “Domäne Dahlem”, which is an open-air museum for organic farming.

 

And not to forget: The Botanical Garden in Lichterfelde is one of the most beautiful and richest in the world, and can be reached from IBZ in about 15 minutes on foot. The unique landscape garden is nestled in gently rolling parkland, its tropical and greenhouses are also an architectural gem.

 

 BERLIN CITY WEST IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

The IBZ Berlin is very close to the City West. To “Kurfürstendamm”, “Breitscheidplatz” and “Tauentzienstraße” it takes no more than ten minutes by underground. The City East (“Potsdamer Platz”, “Friedrichstrasse”, “Unter den Linden” to “Alexanderplatz”) can also be reached from the IBZ in less than 25 minutes.

 

 THE WINE FESTIVAL AT THE RHEINGAU WINE FOUNTAIN

The “Rüdesheimer Platz” is the centre of the quarter. It is an idyllic and beautiful fountain plaza that is decorated with flower beds. In the summer it is the home of the “Rheingau wine fountain”, an urban street party with a wine bar that offers wines from the Rheingau region. There are various small shops, cafes, restaurants and a small weekly market in the neighbourhood. Next to this borough is Friedenau, which is also a popular, centrally located area that is scattered with listed buildings.

Also within walking distance is the large and popular park “Volkspark Wilmersdorf”. This is ideal for biking, jogging and walking. There are many playgrounds, sports facilities for basketball, tennis, table tennis, mini golf, kiosks and restaurants.
